Sale of a minority stake in BTI Studios to Shamrock Capital Advisors
BTI Studios: The local subtitling company that became a global localization powerhouse
With 400 employees and over 3,700 freelancers across 21 offices in 17 countries across Europe, Asia and the US, BTI Studios is a leading provider of dubbing, subtitling, access services and media solutions in any language.
In July 2017, the Company was acquired by Nordic private equity firm Altor together with the management team, including CEO and founder Björn Lifvergren.
Since then, the owners of BTI Studios continued to look for a strategic co-investor with a strong media footprint and good connections to the US market.
Shamrock Capital Advisors acquires a minority stake in BTI Studios
In October 2017, Altor sold a 30% stake in BTI Studios to Shamrock Capital Advisors, a Los Angeles-based alternative investment firm which invests exclusively in the media, entertainment, and communications sectors.
As a media-centric investor with a strong US foundation, Shamrock will partner with BTI Studios and Altor Equity Partners and support the company on its continued growth journey and expansion in the US.
“Hollywood is very much based on who you know. Even to just come and pitch you have to have a strong network and Shamrock has just that. They have worked in the industry for over 30 years so they can open lots of doors and also know the people that can open doors for us” said Björn Lifvergren, CEO and founder of BTI Studios.
GCA Altium acted as sole financial advisor to the seller.
