Prima TV sold to Cristian Burci
Prima TV: a strong broadcasting group in Romania’s highly competitive market
Prima TV was launched as one of the first commercial television stations in Romania. The broadcaster reaches 87% of the country’s urban population and is one of the country’s most successful TV stations.
The company’s unique portfolio of two top TV brands have seen it become Romania’s #3 media brand, and the fourth largest broadcasting group in a highly competitive market.
Its attractive key demographic target group has high commercial affinity, fitting in well with Romania’s position as having the third largest ad market in Central and Eastern Europe (€192m in 2013E).
Prima TV is acquired by local entrepreneur Cristian Burci
Having seen the opportunity in the market, Prima TV has been acquired by Cristian Burci – a local Romanian entrepreneur and investor. Burci has a solid background in media, being in fact the founder of Prima TV in 1997. Currently, he is also the owner of Click! tablid and Adevarul daily.
Burci has bought Prima TV from ProSiebenSat.1 who have sold their operations in Central and Eastern Europe. The other assets of the group, Kiss TV and the radio stations Kiss FM, Magic FM, One FM and Rock FM were sold to Antenna Group in Greece.
GCA Altium acted as sole advisor to the sellers.
