PokerStrategy sold to Playtech
The world’s largest online poker school and community, offering comprehensive poker education for all skill groups
PokerStrategy.com is based out of Gibraltar and offers internet-based poker education services to over 6.1m registered users and over 1.7m real money players. The highly profitable company is available in 19 languages with particular scale in Russian, English, German and Spanish markets.
Playtech has acquired PokerStrategy.com for $49.2m, further diversify its business by providing licensees with access to the world’s largest poker community
Playtech was founded in 1999, and was listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2006 at a valuation of c. £550m. The publicly-listed company is the world’s largest online gaming software provider for online gaming operators. They provide software for online casinos, online poker rooms, online bingo games, online sports betting, scratch games, mobile gaming, live dealer games and fixed-odds arcade games online.
Playtech has acquired 100% of the outstanding equity share capital of PokerStrategy.com for $49.2m (0.84x 2012 revenues, 1.8x 2012 EBITDA). The deal allows Playtech to further diversify its business by providing licensees with access to the world’s largest poker community and is complementary to both Playtech’s PTTS marketing unit and its overall poker offering, further strengthening Playtech’s position in poker and providing a community-based model for player acquisition, which is attractive to both social and real-money players in existing and soon to be regulated markets
