Founded in 1997 by Thomas Löfgren, Junkyard is a leading retailer of fashion, street and sports apparel in the Nordics with presence also in Germany and France.
Junkyard initiated a repositioning of the brand in 2015 towards a more fashion-focused profile, targeting urban customers rather than rural customers. As a result of these efforts, the Company has shown a strong ability to attract both male, female and unisex customers. The team has also executed on the Company’s strategy through a broad mix of external and own brands.
VARNER strengthens its Nordic footprint further with the acquisition of Junkyard
VARNER is a family owned business operating a omnichannel retailing strategy. The group consists of the brands Cubus, Dressman, XL, Bik Bok, Carlings, Volt, Urban, WOW, Levi’s Store and Nike Store. With revenues of NOK 11bn, 11,000 employees and 1,500 stores across 8 countries in 2018, VARNER is one of the largest fashion retailers in Scandinavia
The move to acquire Junkyard comes as a natural step for VARNER, strengthening its position in the Nordics with access to strong e-commerce expertise.
