GCA advises Hitachi Power Solutions on the sale of its analysis contract service business to Endeavour
GCA has advised Hitachi Power Solutions Co., Ltd, the energy sector solutions arm and wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd., on the sale of its analysis contract service business to Endeavour United Co., Ltd, an established Japanese private equity firm.
Formed in 1971, Hitachi Power Solutions’ analysis contract service business has expanded its focus on analysis contract and research technology consulting to include analysis, material evaluation, corrosion testing and strength analysis in the environmental and food fields. Now that the miniaturization of materials and products is of increasing importance, the evaluation of structures and composition at the atomic level is key. The analysis service contract that uses scanning transmission electronic microscopes equipped with a spherical aberration corrector has the ability to highly precisely measure the structure, composition and chemical bonding condition of materials and devices. It is applicable to a wide range of fields such as chemical analysis, physical properties evaluation, structural analysis, mechanical testing, corrosion testing and non-destructive measurement. The service is expected to keep growing as its relevance keeps increasing.
Hitachi is accelerating the restructuring of its business portfolio and this transaction is a key part of the effort to reorganize and divest its non-core business. Hitachi and Hitachi Power Solutions will increase the focus on the social innovation business which combines operational technology, information technology and products relating to equipment and maintenance of social infrastructure.
GCA acted as exclusive financial advisor to Hitachi Power Solutions on this transaction. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
