GCA Altium advises Tipser on its sale to Bolt
GCA Altium acted as exclusive financial advisor to Tipser, the fast-growing market leader within embedded e-commerce, on its sale to Bolt, a global leader in online checkout solutions.
Tipser is the enterprise platform for embedded commerce, and its technology enables consumers to purchase products natively from sites like online publications, mobile marketplaces, price comparison sites, social media platforms or search engines. The company has offices in Stockholm, Wroclaw, Barcelona and New York, and is led by Marcus Jacobsson, Co-Founder and CEO, who started the company in 2012 with Axel Wolrath and Jonas Sjöstedt. Reaching over 200 million consumers across its publisher network, Tipser offers a catalogue of over one million products from 7,000 global brands.
Bolt is a leading checkout and shopper network company that strengthens retailers’ relationships with their customers by unlocking secure, logged-in, lightning-fast checkouts. Hundreds of retailers—including Forever 21, Lucky Brand, Casper, and Badgley Mischka—leverage Bolt to offer their shoppers the seamless checkout experiences they’ve come to expect. Founded in 2014, Bolt is headquartered in San Francisco and has offices in New York City, Salt Lake City, Seattle and Toronto.
Building upon Tipser’s technology, Bolt will be leveraging Tipser’s turn-key publisher marketplaces, touchless merchant integrations, and headless implementation capabilities to enhance Bolt’s Remote Checkout solution. By combining forces between Tipser’s technology and Bolt SSO Commerce™, Remote Checkout will enable publishers—who struggle to build direct relationships with their consumers—to leverage Bolt’s one-click account creation and tap into its network of shoppers. With this acquisition, Bolt will soon be powering one-click checkouts on remote surfaces throughout the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and all EU territories.
Marcus Jacobsson said: “It is very rare to find a partner with such symbiosis in culture, vision, and offerings. Both our companies were built on the foundation of a Conscious Culture—growing thriving businesses by putting our teams first. Even though we come from complementary business offerings, we share exactly the same vision enabling every digital surface to become transactional. With our forces combined, we’re able to give hundreds of millions of consumers access to a safer, faster, and more convenient way of shopping online. We’re deeply impressed by Bolt’s team and are eager to embark on this exciting journey together!”
Ryan Breslow, Founder and CEO of Bolt, added: “Tipser and Bolt share the same goal of enabling checkout to take place anywhere. Our acquisition of Tipser couldn’t be more synergistic for the future of remote checkout. Tipser has proven success in giving shoppers the opportunity to directly check out through inspirational content. By joining forces with Tipser, the sky’s the limit when it comes to unlocking the power of shopper identities to check out everywhere.”
