GCA Altium advises Employour on its takeover by Gruner + Jahr, part of Bertelsmann

GCA Altium acted as exclusive financial adviser to Employour on its sale to Gruner + Jahr, a Bertelsmann company, for a high double-digit million EUR amount. Employour, together with Bertelsmann’s Medienfabrik embrace, will be the #1 platform for job starters, with an offering that does not yet exist in the market.

Employour, established in 2010 and headquartered in Bochum, Germany, is the leading German platform for all job starters with a portfolio of 5 dedicated portals, targeting all segments of young talents. Like embrace, it focuses on career and study orientation for young people. Young talents benefit from a one-stop shop in their search for the most suitable education or job, while employers benefit from a powerful platform to attract young talents through branding, passive and active recruiting.

Together, Employour and embrace have more than 3 million users and 10 million page views per month and over 140,000 registered members – clearly leading in Germany in the area of online recruitment of young professionals. The list of customers across all networks and advisory businesses comprises 26 of the 30 DAX companies and a total of more than 820 companies. 210 employees at locations in Gütersloh, Bochum and Berlin develop innovative products and services for the human resources market.

Stefan Peukert and Daniel Schütt, Founders of Employour, said: “For over five years we have been successfully bringing companies and young people together. We have changed the way students find their first job. Together with embrace we want to continue to redefine marketing to employees. We are already working together to launch our first joint product in early 2016.”

This transaction marks GCA Altium’s 15th in the Digital, Media and Internet space and its 50th overall to date in 2015.
