Contentserv sell majority stake to Investcorp
Globally leading PIM software provider, rapidly expanding across Europe, Asia and the US
Swiss-headquartered Contentserv, with key offices in Germany, was founded in 2012 and has grown to become a market leader in Product Information Management (PIM) software in the DACH region, as recognised by its top-tier vendor rankings from both Gartner and Forrester. As well as developing the PIM software suite, Contentserv also has developed modules for Media Asset Management and Translation Management.
This software is delivered both on-premise and as Software as a Service (SaaS), with most of its revenues from licensing, maintenance services and SaaS subscriptions being of a recurring nature. These revenues mainly come from DACH (80%) and Benelux (13%), with the rest coming from the US and Japan. Its customers are mainly upper and lower mid-marketing industrials, DIY, retail and consumer brands.
Contentserv’s renowned PIM software allows customers to manage rich and complex product data sets and relationships (taxonomies, SKU specifications, descriptions, pictures, reviews), with the purpose of assembling, collating, organising and synchronising production information, as well as providing data governance too. Under the leadership of its two co-founders, Patricia Kastner (President) and Armin Dressler (CEO), Contentserv has undergone a rapid expansion phase (with a 2015-2018 revenue CAGR of 30%) and successfully expanded into Benelux, France, Japan/Asia-Pac and the US from its core DACH market.
Investcorp’s majority stake in Contentserv to fund global expansion and product development

Investcorp is partnering with the founding management of Contentserv as the company’s controlling shareholder, both through an investment in the company (primary) and a share purchase (secondary).
In acquiring a majority stake in the company, Investcorp is also investing capital into Contenserv to further bolster its global expansion and product development efforts. Contentserv’s co-founders will remain meaningfully invested alongside Investcorp and will continue to lead the business going forward.
