Avalanche Studios: A leading open world game developer
Avalanche Studios is a Swedish video game developer founded in 2003 by Linus Blomberg and Christofer Sundberg that creates games based on its unique, proprietary technology, the Apex – Avalanche Open World Engine, capable of creating some of the most impressive open worlds in the industry.
Avalanche Studios is the original creator of games such as the award-winning Just Cause franchise, Mad Max (published by Warner Bros.), Renegade Ops (published by SEGA), or self-published free-to-play service theHunter Classic that enjoys more than 7 million registered players across 190 countries.
The studio currently employs more than 270 people with offices in Stockholm and New York City.
Seizing international growth opportunities
With the investment from Nordisk Film, Avalanche Studios will be able to accelerate its growth in the international gaming market.
Nordisk Film will invest more than USD 10m for a minority ownership share in Avalanche Studios and accelerate the Company’s international growth.
Founded in 1906, Nordisk Film (a subsidiary of media group Egmont) is the leading producer and distributor of films in the Nordic countries and operates the largest cinema chains in Denmark and Norway. It also has digital businesses within gift cards, ticketing services, computer games development and distribution, and eSports.
