Sale of audibene to the Sivantos Group

With 15,000 visitors daily, audibene is Europe’s leading consultation portal for hearing care and hearing aids. audibene offers qualified and customer-oriented advice to people suffering from hearing loss and supports them in selecting the right hearing aid. Hearing aids are then fitted according to an individual’s hearing loss by local audiologists who have been selected by audibene. The sale of the devices is registered and collected by audibene.

audibene was founded in 2012 by Paul Crusius and Dr. Marco Vietor. The founders are also major shareholders in the business. They continue to serve as managing directors and obtain shares in the Sivantos Group as part of the transaction. In the past, the growth of audibene was supported by the venture capitalists Acton Capital Partners and Sunstone Capital as well as a number of business angels under serial entrepreneur Stephan Schubert, all of whom have fully transferred their shares to Sivantos.

The Sivantos Group, which provides hearing care professionals with hearing aids from the brands Siemens, Audio Service, Rexton and A&M, combines, since the beginning of 2015, all activities of the former hearing aids division of Siemens. Sivantos is supported by private equity investor EQT, Siemens, and the Strüngmann Family as anchor investors. In many parts of the world Sivantos has built up market-leading positions. In the coming years, EQT and Sivantos will implement an innovation and growth push and, with the support of audibene, Sivantos will reach significantly younger customers and hence achieve further market expansion.

“Our motivation is to uncover and develop innovative approaches to partner with our customers to provide hearing healthcare earlier in the patient journey. The combination of Sivantos and audibene delivers a unique, value-added proposition to our business partners,” says Roger Radke, CEO of the Sivantos Group. “With its unique combination of digital media, phone support and qualified partner network, audibene succeeded within a short time to appeal to consumers that have until now refused the traditional supply chain. This dynamic matches the future-oriented realignment of Sivantos.”

Paul Crusius and Marco Vietor will be part of the Sivantos management and continue to lead the audibene business. “Sivantos as an entrepreneurial investor is the ideal partner for us. We want to develop audibene into a truly international company. Our business will benefit greatly from its worldwide distribution network and innovation leadership,” they commented.
