GCA Altium advises Alan Dick Communications on its sale to Panasonic
GCA Altium acted as financial advisor to Alan Dick Communications Limited, a leading UK technology integration specialist providing end-to-end telecoms-based services to the transportation and mobile telecoms sectors, on its sale to Panasonic Europe, the European arm of Panasonic.
The acquisition of ADComms provides Panasonic with an opportunity to expand into the rapidly-growing rail market, incorporating mainline rail, London Underground and other light metro infrastructure in the UK. The acquisition is part of Panasonic’s wider approach to provide turnkey solutions to its customers that include connectivity, hardware and software alongside engineering services. It also reflects Panasonic’s continued commitment to the ‘Digitisation of Transport’.
By joining forces, both parties look forward to providing innovative solutions to support digitisation within the transportation industry. ADComms will continue to operate as a stand-alone business, with its own brand and with the current management team continuing to lead the business.
Tony Greaves, Chairman and principal shareholder of ADComms, said: “ADComms are delighted to be joining the Panasonic group, and we’re excited to help Panasonic drive their strategy to deliver a fully integrated product and solutions business across the transportation market. Together we can build upon the unique position ADComms has established as a technology integrator for infrastructure owners, operators, and users.
We were very pleased to have the advice and support of GCA Altium in helping to execute a transaction with Panasonic which provides ADComms with a strong and supportive partner for future growth.”
Stephen Georgiadis, Managing Director at GCA Altium, said: “We were pleased to have helped ADComms’ shareholders achieve a successful exit, as well as ensuring a promising future for the Company as part of Panasonic.”
This latest transaction sees GCA Altium build on its leading position in European technology advisory, having completed 34 transactions since the beginning of 2015. Other recent deals include Axel Springer Digital Ventures GmbH’s sale of Smarthouse Media GmbH to adesso AG, a majority investment in Guestline by The Riverside Company and the acquisition of d&b audiotechnik by Ardian.
