GCA Altium advises Setanta Sports Eurasia on its sale to Adjarasport
Setanta Sports was set up in 2011 by founder Michael O’Rourke alongside Chief Executive Dwyer McCaughley and operates across 13 territories (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Estonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan). The company has distribution agreements with over 150 platform operators and is available in 10 million homes in the market.
The combination of Setanta Sports Eurasia’s ability to operate in the TV market and Adjarasports’ experience in developing online platforms will offer sports fans new and exciting viewing opportunities to watch more of the best sports content across existing and new Setanta Sports Eurasia platforms. The channels will continue to be branded Setanta Sports Eurasia and broadcast a significant portfolio of rights in the markets, including English Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, FA Cup, Belgian Pro League, SPFL, ATP, Wimbledon, Formula 1, NHL, NBA, UFC, Top 14 and The Masters.
Adjarasport is a member of the Adjara Group which has significant interests in hospitality, lifestyle development, sports betting, gaming and entertainment. Michael O’Rourke and Dwyer McCaughley will continue to advise Adjarasport and remain on the Board of Directors. The deal does not include Setanta Ukraine which will continue to be owned and operated by its existing shareholders.
